The SENN Gruppe was founded in 2001 with KS Kneissl & Senn Technologie GmbH. Originally based in the old Kneissl ski factory in Kufstein, the company moved to Erl in 2013. By revenue and headcount, KS is the largest subsidiary in the group and acts as both producer and distributor across several product worlds.

In 2009, RBS Kompensator GmbH joined the group (75 %). RBS produces fabric expansion joints — and, since 2019, custom metal parts and flanges in contract manufacturing for the group and third parties.

In 2013 came the move to Erl with both companies, plus the founding of Senn Immobilien GmbH for the newly acquired real estate, and the parent company SENN Beteiligungs GmbH. In 2017 and 2018, Gasser GmbH and Ceratec GmbH were acquired — the former owners had no successors, and both portfolios complemented the group's range. Both companies are now in Erl. During the pandemic, parts of Wystrach Gießereitechnik and Active Feuerfest were integrated into Gasser and Ceratec respectively. In 2018, Hall A was added, bringing 1,800 m² of additional high-bay capacity.

Senn Kraftwerke GmbH was founded at the end of 2021 alongside the acquisition of the Trockenbach hydro plant in Erl. All energy generation activities of the group are now bundled there — hydro plus photovoltaic, producing 1.5–2 GWh of sustainable electricity per year. Sinteca HandelsgmbH joined as a 90 % subsidiary in 2022 — founded in 1984 in Vienna as Aladin, distributing plain bearings, stainless plant components and sintered filters; since 2023 also Chesterton lubricants and seals. Sinteca is based in Klosterneuburg, Lower Austria. In 2023, Hall HE opened with 3,500 m² for expansion joint production and metal fabrication. Senn Logistik GmbH joined in October 2023 for internal and third-party transport (full loads, LTL, sprinter). End of 2023, vermiculite specialist K. Hoffmann GmbH (Plettenberg) joined — significantly deepening the group's vermiculite know-how across pressed parts, CNC-milled shapes and panels.
