Chesterton® 572 OptiCool™ (E) is a semi-synthetic metalworking coolant (cutting-and-grinding fluid) that forms a microemulsion as a water-dilutable concentrate, combining cooling and lubricating action with extreme-pressure (EP) performance. What is Chesterton® 572 OptiCool™ (E)?
572 OptiCool™ (E) is a semi-synthetic, water-miscible metalworking coolant (cutting-and-grinding fluid) from Chesterton®. As a concentrate it forms a clear to amber microemulsion when mixed with water, combining cooling and lubricating action, foam control, extreme-pressure (EP) performance and corrosion protection. It contains no nitrites, phenols, sulfur, formaldehydes or chlorinated additives.
Which machining processes and materials is 572 OptiCool™ (E) suitable for?
Recommended for milling, grinding, drilling, deep drawing, turning, broaching, reaming, sawing, thread cutting and stamping on lathes and in machining centers with changing tasks. The initial dilution depends on the material and process: for steel and alloy steels typically 5 to 10 %, for aluminum 5 to 10 %, and for grinding 4 %.
How is 572 OptiCool™ (E) mixed and maintained?
Add the concentrate to the water, not the other way around. Dilutions above 40:1 are not recommended, as corrosion protection and protection against bacterial growth otherwise decline. Check the concentration regularly with a refractometer and top up with water; if the pH drops below 8.5, replenish with fresh coolant. The concentrate pH is 9.0 to 9.4.
