Chesterton® Industrial Degreaser 274 is a solvent-based, industrial-strength degreasing agent that dissolves grease, oil, tar and other water-insoluble contaminants from hard surfaces such as those found in industrial and marine applications. With a flash point of 62 °C, an aromatic content (C8+) below 0.2 per cent and no chlorinated or ozone-depleting substances, it replaces hazardous solvents such as kerosene, chlorinated cleaners and naphtha-based agents. It is applied undiluted, can be sprayed, brushed or used in dip-tank processes, and does not attack metals or most paints and plastics.

On which materials and in which areas can 274 be used?
It degreases metal parts, equipment, vehicles, floors and other hard surfaces, and does not attack metals or most paints and plastics. Typical areas of use include metal-producing operations, paint shops, maintenance departments, repair workshops, vehicle fleets and ship docks. On painted surfaces, plastic or rubber, test beforehand on an inconspicuous spot.
How is 274 applied, and does it need to be diluted?
274 is used undiluted as supplied and is not mixed with other solvents or water. It can be sprayed, applied with brushes or used in dip-tank processes. Best results are achieved when the part is rinsed in clean 274 after cleaning and then wiped or air-dried.
How safe is 274 compared with conventional solvents?
274 has a high flash point of 62 °C and an aromatic content (C8+) below 0.2 per cent, is non-chlorinated and contains no ozone-depleting substances. It is NSF-registered (C1, K1, K2; Reg. No. 133955 bulk, 133949 aerosol). Observe the safety data sheet before use; 274 must not be used on live electrical equipment.
