The Chesterton® 277 metal degreaser is a non-chlorinated solvent product that dissolves oils, greases, lubricants, dust and dirt from metal surfaces and flushes them away through its strong flushing action. It evaporates quickly, is 100 per cent volatile and leaves virtually no residue, keeping downtime for cleaning and maintenance low. Typical applications are rolling bearings, valves and fittings, chain and sprocket drives, motors, precision instruments and parts in processing. What is the Chesterton® 277 metal degreaser used for?
It removes oils, greases, lubricants, dust and industrial soiling from metal surfaces. Typical applications are rolling bearings, sliding and motion mechanisms, valves and fittings, chain and sprocket drives, motors, slides and hinges, sensitive precision instruments as well as parts in processing.
On which materials may the 277 be used?
The 277 is suitable for use on all metals. On painted surfaces, plastic or rubber, a small amount should first be applied to a non-critical spot and checked after 15 minutes for chemical attack or softening; if visible damage occurs, the product must not be used there.
How is the 277 applied and what should be considered regarding flammability?
The 277 is used undiluted, sprayed as an aerosol, applied with a brush or by immersion. It must not be diluted with other organic solvents or water. The flash point is -6 °C (highly flammable): keep away from ignition sources and store cool below 38 °C.
Does the 277 leave a residue after drying?
No, it is 100 per cent volatile (at 25 °C) and formulated to leave almost no residue. The fast evaporation shortens downtime; it contains no ozone-depleting compounds and no suspected carcinogens and is NSF C1/K1 registered.
