Chesterton® 388 is a fully synthetic, ready-to-use cutting fluid for machine and manual metalworking at high spindle speeds and feed rates. It cools and lubricates during thread tapping, drilling, reaming, boring, parting and milling, is suitable for stainless and high-alloy steel, aluminium, brass, bronze, copper, titanium, Monel® and Hastelloy®, and contains neither chlorine nor sulphur nor mineral oil. What is Chesterton 388 used for?
Chesterton® 388 is a synthetic cutting fluid for machine and manual metalworking at high spindle speeds and feed rates. Typical applications are thread tapping, drilling, reaming, boring, parting and milling, as well as misting applications.
Does Chesterton 388 need to be diluted?
No. Chesterton® 388 is supplied ready-to-use and applied undiluted directly to tool and workpiece; the machining area is flooded and re-wetted as needed. Contact with moving machine parts must be avoided.
Which materials is Chesterton 388 suitable for?
Suitable for stainless steel, carbon steel, high-alloy steel, aluminium and aluminium alloys, brass, bronze, cast iron, copper, titanium, Monel® and Hastelloy®. According to the data sheet, do not use on magnesium or magnesium alloys. The product contains no chlorine, so stainless steel can also be machined without risk of embrittlement.
