Chesterton® 622 white grease is a PTFE-reinforced, mineral-oil-based multi-purpose grease with aluminium-complex thickener (NLGI 2), approved to NSF H1 (registration number 133929) for possible food contact and compliant with FDA sections 178.3570 and 177.1550. It lubricates chutes, guides and moving parts in bottle- and carton-filling lines, sauce and fruit-juice plants, meat-packaging and can-filling machines, as well as valves, pistons, pumps and conveyor belts. With a drop point of 245 °C, an operating range of -23 to 170 °C and 2.45 % water washout at 80 °C, the lubricating film stays stable even under steam, water and cleaning agents. Application in der Nahrungsmittelbranche bei Flaschenabfüllanlagen, Früchtezuführungen, Pasten- und Soßen- Abfüllanlagen, Konservierungsmaschinen, Fleischverpackungsmaschinen, Kartonfüllmaschinen. Yes. The grease is approved to NSF H1 (registration number 133929) for applications with possible, technically unavoidable food contact and complies with FDA sections 178.3570 and 177.1550. It is almost colourless, odourless and tasteless. An H1 clearance means suitability for incidental contact, not direct addition to food.
What temperature range can Chesterton® 622 be used in?
According to the data sheet, the operating temperature range is -23 to 170 °C. The drop point is 245 °C (ASTM D 2265). This keeps the lubricating film stable even at higher plant temperatures.
What sets Chesterton® 622 apart from standard greases on contact with water and cleaning agents?
Thanks to the aluminium-complex thickener and the PTFE additive, the grease is resistant to water, steam, caustic agents, cleaning agents and fruit juices. The water washout is only 2.45 % at 80 °C (ASTM D 1264), and the PTFE content reduces friction and wear on moving parts.
