Sealing cords consist of a soft core with a braided ceramic fiber sheath (close- or wide-meshed). The higher the wear during use, the stronger the braiding should be. The ceramic fiber braiding requires additional reinforcement with glass fibers (reduces the classification temperature to 650°C) or metal wire (1200°C).

Sealing cords can also be braided with other yarns (e.g., HT glass fiber, silicate fiber, biosoluble fiber).
