Vermiculite is a natural but rare mineral that is used both as raw vermiculite in various grain sizes and as a further processed material. For the production of boards and molded parts, exfoliated vermiculite is mixed with special binders and, if necessary, with additional components (e.g., ash, lime), then pressed into boards or molded parts and subsequently dried.
Vermiculite boards with a density of 600–700 kg/m³ and a maximum application temperature of 1,100 °C are frequently used in fireplaces and boilers. Due to their good mechanical strength, the boards are also suitable for lining combustion chambers as well as for insulation of doors and lids.
Vermiculite boards are also used in the aluminum industry (suitable for direct contact with aluminum) as well as in the steel industry.
Vermiculite boards can be further processed into different shapes, precisely according to customer requirements and specifications.
