FONDAG®
Ready-to-use calcium-aluminate concrete for extreme industrial environments – heat-, abrasion- and corrosion-resistant.
FONDAG® is a ready-to-use calcium-aluminate concrete. It withstands temperatures from −180 °C to +1100 °C and thermal shock while resisting abrasion, erosion and aggressive media – where Portland-cement concrete fails.
- Applications
- Foundries | Cement plants | Incineration plants | Industrial floors | Hydraulic structures | Petrochemicals | Food industry
- Supply form
- 25 kg bag | Big bag

The ready-to-use concrete for extreme environments
FONDAG® combines a hard, dense synthetic aggregate with calcium-aluminate cement. Because aggregate and binder are mineralogically related, they form an exceptionally strong bond – with high resistance to heat, thermal shock, abrasion and corrosion in a single material.
Properties
- Resistant from −180 °C to +1100 °C and thermal-shock-proof
- Many times more abrasion-resistant than Portland-cement concrete (C30/37)
- Corrosion-resistant against acids, oils and sulphates (pH 3.5–11)
- Back in service after 6–8 hours
- Ready to use – just add water
Technical data
- Temperature resistance: −180 °C to +1100 °C
- Material: calcium-aluminate concrete, aggregate with 40 % Al₂O₃

Case studies with FONDAG®
Documented reference projects with FONDAG® from especially demanding industrial environments.
Copper slag storage, USA
At Hussey Copper (Pennsylvania) the Portland-cement floor of the slag storage area wore out within five years. FONDAG® was placed in six slabs over two days – operations resumed the morning after the pour. After four months of thermal shock and abrasion: no visible wear.
Aluminium plant, USA
At Vulcan Aluminum (Alabama) FONDAG® has been in use since the 1990s – foundry floors, furnace foundations, retention pits and troughs. All areas remain in service today, where Portland-cement concrete could not withstand the heat and traffic.
Aluminium recycling, USA
At a recycling plant (Indiana) material above 700 °C is handled. FONDAG® replaced the Portland floor that had to be re-poured every year; each slab was fully load-bearing 24 hours after the pour and noticeably extends maintenance cycles.
Frequently asked questions
-
What is FONDAG®?
FONDAG® is a ready-to-use calcium-aluminate concrete from Imerys. A synthetic aggregate with about 40 % alumina and calcium-aluminate cement form a particularly strong bond – resistant to heat, thermal shock, abrasion and corrosion in a single material.
-
Up to what temperature is FONDAG® resistant?
FONDAG® is resistant from −180 °C to +1100 °C and also withstands strong temperature changes and thermal shock.
-
How is FONDAG® processed?
FONDAG® is ready to use – only water is added (approx. 2.3–2.5 litres per 25 kg bag). Working time is 1–3 hours; the concrete is load-bearing again after 6–8 hours.
-
What is FONDAG® used for?
Typical applications are foundry and furnace floors, slag pits, industrial floors, cement plants and incineration plants, as well as abrasive and corrosive areas in petrochemicals and the food industry.
-
In what supply form is FONDAG® available?
FONDAG® is available in 25 kg bags and big bags. We are happy to advise on the right quantity and application – contact us.
