Fire Protection
1-hour and 2-hour fire ratings. Tested to UL, FM Global and IMO FTP Code standards.
Biosoluble
Insulfrax® AES fibre — exonerated from carcinogen classification per Note Q, EU Regulation EC/1272/2008 (CLP).
Versatile
Five variants for HVAC, marine, cable trays, dryers and plenums — one fibre technology.
PRODUCT TYPE
FyreWrap® fire protection wraps are needled lightweight blankets made from biosoluble Insulfrax® fibre (CaO-MgO-SiO₂, alkaline earth silicate). They provide passive fire protection for HVAC ducts, marine structures, cable trays and dryer exhausts. The wraps are mechanically needled — no binder. No smoke or fumes are generated when exposed to heat. Classification temperature is 1200 °C, maximum continuous use temperature is 1100 °C.
MATERIAL
Insulfrax® alkaline earth silicate fibre (AES) consists of a mix of amorphous fibres based on silicon dioxide (SiO₂ 61–67%), calcium oxide (CaO 27–33%) and magnesium oxide (MgO 2.5–6.5%). The fibre is biosoluble and exonerated from carcinogen classification per Note Q of EU Regulation EC/1272/2008 (CLP). Melting point is 1260 °C (2300 °F).
ALKEGEN® (formerly Unifrax®)

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is FyreWrap® and what is it used for?
FyreWrap® by Alkegen® (formerly Unifrax®) is a passive fire protection wrap made from biosoluble Insulfrax® fibre (alkaline earth silicate, AES). It protects HVAC ducts, marine structures, cable trays and dryer exhausts.
Is FyreWrap® safe for health?
Yes. FyreWrap® is made from biosoluble Insulfrax® fibres that are exonerated from carcinogen classification per Note Q of EU Regulation EC/1272/2008 (CLP). The fibres contain no binder and produce no smoke or fumes.
What fire ratings does FyreWrap® Elite® achieve?
FyreWrap® Elite® 1.5 achieves 1-hour and 2-hour fire resistance ratings. A single layer is sufficient for air distribution ducts, while commercial kitchen grease ducts require a double layer.
What approvals does FyreWrap® Marine have?
FyreWrap® Marine meets fire divisions A-15 to H-120 per IMO FTP Code. Approved per MED (Marine Equipment Directive) and U.S. Coast Guard.
How does FyreWrap® differ from Fiberfrax® Durablanket®?
FyreWrap® is a passive fire protection wrap made from biosoluble Insulfrax® fibre (AES, 1200 °C). Fiberfrax® Durablanket® is a high-temperature insulation blanket made from ceramic fibre (ASW/RCF, 1250 °C). Different fibre technologies for different application areas.
