CHARACTERISTICS
Alkaline earth silicate fiber-based thermal insulation materials offer thermal insulation at recommended operating temperatures of up to 1200 ° C and are based on a calcium-magnesium-silicon-dioxide chemistry. Isofrax® Soluble fiber products are designed for improved in vitro solubility properties. Thus, these products meet the European legal requirements for synthetic glassy fibers.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is alkaline earth silicate wool (AES)?
AES (Alkaline Earth Silicate Wool) is a bio-soluble high-temperature fibre wool based on calcium, magnesium and silicon oxide (CaO, MgO, SiO₂). It insulates at operating temperatures up to 1200 °C and is regarded under European regulations as a safe alternative to conventional ceramic fibres.
How does AES differ from conventional ceramic fibre (RCF)?
AES fibres are bio-soluble and achieve insulation properties comparable to aluminosilicate ceramic fibres (RCF), but are regarded as the safer alternative under European regulations for synthetic vitreous fibres.
Up to what temperature can AES wool be used?
The recommended operating temperature is up to 1200 °C, the classification temperature up to 1300 °C. The exact limit depends on product density and application. Standard grades are AES1200 (Insulfrax® S) and AES1260 (Isofrax®).
In what forms does SENN supply alkaline earth silicate wool?
We supply AES as blankets, fabrics, tapes, knitted and twisted cords, packings, sleeves, gaskets and moulded parts. Special grades are available on request.
